Arrival
I arrived in Santiago tired from an early flight and unable to check-in to the hotel straight away. What better way to improve a morning that walking across the road and finding out you can have a fondue lunch in the sun on a fresh December morning.
So that is exactly what I did.
Feeling happy and full, I proceeded to check-in early to the hotel and fall straight to sleep.
I was pleased to find out that the gym, this time, was open in the hotel. So after a quick nap I was able to work off some of my fondue lunch and tire myself out for another good sleep tonight.
Getting to Work
A straightforward installation was a relief, as we only had three days to make sure everything was setup working and to get around 40 teachers trained on the equipment.
Everything went smoothly, the people were some of the loveliest bunch I’ve met and even the director had an Oculus at home so the VR went down a hit.
The Food
Although noticeably a bit more expensive at Santiago – compared to Concepcion – the food was gorgeous, so many new plates to try and lots of Peruvian restaurants and sea-food joints to be had. I was in heaven.
The People
The best part of Chile: the people. They were gregarious, tactile, heat-warming and lovely. We couldn’t have asked for a better team of people at the university. We had a couple of nights out and found out more about them.
They even bought us gifts for the installation to say thank you. Adorable.
In the town, I also had the good fortune to stumble upon a lot of creative events that were put on by the local government for free. For example, a stage play of Frozen. I always find it funny that even though it’s summer here for Christmas there’s still ‘white christmas’ themes.
