Purpose of visit: Demo with a distributor for Virteasy Dental
In the run up to the visit, there was a lot of stress around logistics – hoping that the simulator would arrive before we did – and the details for flights and hotels came at the last minute.
When we arrived, the distributor was kind, curteous and very attentive. He booked up into a very nice Hilton hotel and drove us everywhere we needed to go.
The first day we visited a university and gave the introduction to Virteasy.
The afternoon led to a late lunch exploring all of the tastes (and drinks) that Turkey has to offer. We were delightfully surprised and left having eaten (and drunk) enough for the whole week.
In the evening we did some street shopping (finding my favourite shop, Mavi) tried a local delicacy called tavuk göğsü.
Having tried this dish before, I had previously been told it was a form of cheese which made sense given it’s stringy texture. Apparently the joke was on me, because it is not cheese at all but a pudding made from chicken breast! The taste seemed to change after I realised it’s stringy texture came from pieces of chicken…
The second day we held an open day at the distributor’s offices.
Before long, we made a new friend at the window who wanted to get in…
But who can come to Turkey and not do a bit of the amazing tourist things – including the cisterns, the mosque and everything else…
